Show CONDITIONS HEALTHFUL. Only Eight Cases of Contagious Diseases Dis-eases In Ogden. Special lo The Tribune OGDEN; Feb. II. With only eight cases of contagious diseases recorded In the city at. the present time, Health Officer Of-ficer George Shorten reports local health conditions to be unusually favorable. There are five cases of smallpox, two of scarlet fever and one of diphtheria now under quarantine. Two of tho smallpox victims have practically recovered and will be released from the city detention hospital on Tuesday. Three of the smallpox cases developed during the past few days. Adam Petersen and James Byron, two transients with smallpox, were placed In the detention hospital Saturday William T. Stewart, a son of Bishop W. L. Stewart, residing at 21.10 Taylor avenue, Is the latest victim. He was quarantined at his home by Health Officer Shorten this morning. The city health board has decided to give Health Officer Shorten several assistants as-sistants for a few days. The extra men will make a complete canvass of the clt warning all residents to- clean up their premises. The board believes that the greatest danger "from disease .comes from the, thawing of rubbish which has accumulated ac-cumulated and frozen during the winter. |
