The Garriek theater has been leased for a season of musical comed3". .Negotiations .Ne-gotiations were completed the early part of this week between the Salt Lake Amusement association, propri otors of the Garriek, and "Tommy" Fitzgerald, who is said to bo backed I by a syndicate of local poople, whereby where-by the latter will toke possession of the theater when tho Garriek company closes its engagement there Saturda' night. May .11, and will immediately install n musical comedy company, reopening re-opening tho house Sunday night. May 12. While it was tho original intention of the Garriek management; to keep the houso dark during the . summer months, it is said that Mr. Fitzgerald made an offer for the theater which the Garriek people could not nfiord to decline, which will result in a first-class first-class stock musical comedy company keeping tho Gnrrick's doors open during dur-ing tho next, two or three months. Mr. Fitzgerald bus been more or less active in the local theatrical field for tho past, two voars, and at, the present timo controls the Majestic theater in First South street, and is said also to imvo nntinns on other theaters in sev eral of tho larger towns of the state. It is said that ho will close out his present holdings and devote his on-tire on-tire time to the management of the Garriek musical comedy company, as he believes that the public win take kindlv to the company which he is gathering" gath-ering" and tho quality of entertainment which his company will offer. Legitimate attractions will be offered of-fered of the regulation musical noni; edy length, one show each evening. Each bill will run one week and open on a Sundav night. The opening attraction will ho a musical extravaganza entitled "In Gav Now York." |
