Salt Lake becamo aggressive at tho Btaxt, tho Copper conceding a corner which was not productive. Mldlleld play followed and tho Copper ran down and. with a slight breeze assisting, forced Salt Lake defense to glvo a corner with no result, and from tho klckoff near the conter Anscll kicked Into the Copper goal, and fast play with good hendwork by the Salt Lake forwards was nullified by a foul .against D. Bramlcy, and from the resultant free kick tho Copper team did some pressing, but Umpleby relieved. Dayer Makes First Goal. Salt Lake's left wing was worrying the defonse of tho Copper team and several times were In dangerous proximity to Porter who, however, was safe. The ground being slippery In somo places was responsible for a few fouls, which had a tendency to slow up the game. Tho most exciting pleco of play up to this time was a fine run-up by Salt Lalco. and Dayer, from a flying pass, scored the opening goal of tho leaguo season.
