Show LABOR. DAY WELL OBSERVED. yesterday's observance of Labor Day in this city was universal and was attended with more features of general intorest than heretofore. The streets were thronged with woll-fed, nell: dressed people from an early hour, and interest in the day was universal. The day was perfect: warm enough for comfort, but not opprqssivn. Every one enjoyed the occasion, and it was a triumph for tho laborers. According to announcement and. to usual custom, Saltnir and othor resorts" arc declared 'closed- for the season". But undoubtedly there is much warm, pleasant pleas-ant weather ahead of us vet; and it is a question this 3'oar, as it often is, whether Labor Day is not too early to close these resorts. Tho day was a success in every way; and its observance was moro general and enthusiastic than over. It is a fine observance, sure to grow in interest inter-est nnd popularity year by year, |
