Show Local Securities The weekly letter of John C. Cutler, Jr., & Co. ls as follows: Salt Lake City, Dec. 12, 1913- The holiday trade has started and Is fairly active In retail lines throughout the United States. But among' wholesalers and manufacturers thcro are indications of a general o.uleUng' down, and the orders or-ders that arc received are mainly for Immediate Im-mediate wants. In Utah trade conditions aro fairly cood, and whllo there ls somo uncertainty as to tho future expressed by tho beet sugar manufacturers, tho mining men, the wool men, and In financial circles, due largely to the question of the operation of the tariff and to tho still undetermined currency bill, the peneral feellngr seems to be that the settlement of these matters, mat-ters, and that of the Mexican stluatlon, would very much help general business conditions in the west. "We have had beautiful weather in Utah this year and the farms and the orchards produced bountiful crops whllo the cold and the snow and winter have not yet arrived, but the weather will probably soon change now and the mountains moun-tains will be filled with snow as usual. One of our writers In telling of the building of Utah by the men and women who have made this glorious commonwealth common-wealth says: "Oh, but they bullded better bet-ter than they know! Could any discoverer discov-erer have imagined this verdant spread of field and garden? Could any explorer have dreamed the wealth of mlno and manufacture? Did any seer foresee the wondrous growth in architecture. In music, mu-sic, In everything that brlng3 blessings to tho home, prosperity to the commonwealth, common-wealth, and Joy to tho heart of man?"
