Show (ACTIVITY HEME IN DUGWflY DISTrilGT Forces of Men at Work in Buckhorri and Silver Bell Properties. EXPERT IS EXAMINING Miners Are Patiently Awaiting Await-ing Railroad to Develop Mighty Production. i I Probably the IfyUo3t Uttlo prospoot t'anip in the stato -of Utah today Is to bo found in the Dujrway mining district, dis-trict, which holds such pood orn-beax-inp ground as to bare lately attracted the Attention of mining mon In Salt Lake particularly and in the state generally. gen-erally. Yesterday Paul Valtlnke, mining geologist, geol-ogist, wont out to the district primarily primari-ly to examine the Buckhorn workings, frith a view to advising as to future development de-velopment work. "Wlille he is in the district, however, be will look into general gen-eral conditions in all tho now and old openings in order to form an estimate of the prospective value of tho camp as a producor. "It 1b known that there are immense bodies of ore of Buch valne as would bring great profit if convenient transportation trans-portation facilities wore available. That a railroad will be built out into that region within a roasonablo time is the confident expectation o all mining men who have visited tho country or who have interests thorc. Buckhorn Is Rich. Jn the Dugway district thoro are three properties which have such excellent excel-lent oro showings as to justify faith in the region. These aro tho Buckhorn, tho Dugwav Silver Bell and tho Prido of the West. Tbo Buckhorn mine originated origi-nated in a discovery made by tho laio Samuel Gilson, who opened a pocket from which was extracted oro to the valuo of $80,000. This pocket, in the opinion of Paul Valtinko, was merely a break-off from the muin vein, which ho declares will bo found to contain oro of almost fabulous value and of largo volume. Ho says that tbe workings now under progress aro approaching this vein, aud that tho miners are now very near to it. In bis inspection ho will do.termino tbo future courso of tho opening in order to get at tho vein at the earliest time. Silver Bell in Ore. The Dugway Silver Bell workings aro already in good oro, assays from which have run very high iu precious metal product in some samples. Tho average is ample in return to justify an exton-Pie exton-Pie campaign of ore production when transportation Khali be at hand. In-lred. In-lred. there is some selected oro which it will pay to ship to the nearest railroad poiut by team, and it may be that pending pend-ing the advent of a railroad tho management man-agement of the property will decide to pursue this course temporarily. That the district is destined to make u mark in the mining world at no great distant time is the firm conviction of all who know of its are bodies, and the Micreased interest that is being taken n the region is productive of considerable consid-erable new aeiivity. Forces of mon aro at work on the Buckhhorn and Silver Hell, aud it is likely that work on tho Pride of the West will be resumed in a brief time. |
