Show A BRISK LEGISLATURE. e It must, be admitted that the present session of the Utah Legislature hns gone firmer and faster to business than is usual in legislative bodies in this State. It has been the rule heretofore that the early days' or the session were practically idled away. nvo only as they were utilized in the way of gel ting acquainted and finding out generally gen-erally wha, tho intentions and feeling of the different members were on various va-rious propositions, to' be introduced la-tor la-tor on "by authority.'' Tho presenl Legislature, however, appears to o taking matters in its own hands, and to be pushing worl from tho first. We do not believe that the history of the Slate will show a briskness of got-tiug got-tiug to work the first week rompurablo with the record of the first week of the' present Legislature. Important bills have been introduced in considerable numbers and tho discussion of important impor-tant measures in preparation, 'but not yet introduced, has been vigorous and earnest. Wc are delighted to see the Legislature Legisla-ture raking hold in this manner, and trust that it will continue to the cud in its independent course, and will deal on its own account with all matters mat-ters presented or to be discussed or acted upon. - |
