The Michigan-Utah Consolidated company com-pany haH been having a merry time of It stringing tho cables for its now aerial tramway up Little Cottonwood canyon. As the towers are all completed by Superintendent Su-perintendent Booth, tho work of getting the two cables in position is under way. These cables aro one and a. half inches In diameter, and at soveral points they had to bev dropped fully one-half mile from where they belong, and to get those cables over trees, rocks and other nat ural obstructions has not been a task conducive to spiritual growth among those charged with the responsibility. Mr. Booth, however, states to the local officials offi-cials that tho tram will b9 in running order or-der within a few dayp. The tram Is four and a half miles in length. On Saturday, the Michigan -Utah company com-pany was receiving the settlement for a lot of ore running 9.4 ounces silver; 2 per cent lead and and G.S2 per cent copper, cop-per, which will net about $35 smelter-net smelter-net per ton. A lot was sold a day or two ago for $33.03 smeltor-net, and another an-other for $29,27. Shipments are retarded still by tho lack of teams, the four shippers ship-pers of tho district keeping what teams that can be secured for the canvon pretty pret-ty busy and nono gets the number of teams he- needs. Thc Michigan-Utah company can handle only such ore as le daily extracted, the tonnage laid to one side from time to time amounting to close to 400 tons, not being touched under un-der the circumstances. |
