Show GOVERNMENT CLOSES IN THE PACKERS' CASE CHICAGO, March 6. The trial of the ten Chicago meat packers entered on Its fourteenth week today, with a probability probabil-ity that the government would conclude Its presentation of evidence before night. The stenographic record of tho case contains con-tains more than S000 typewritten pages, or 2,000,000 words. George J. Edwards, superintendent for Swift & Company In New York City, tcs-tllled tcs-tllled that while acting as manager of the company's beef department at Chicago Chi-cago In 1909 he received his Instructions from Charles IL Swift and that ho received re-ceived from L. B. Patterson, vice president presi-dent of the National Packing company, the margins of Armour &. Co. and of tho National Packing company. He also said he got margins from Morris &. Company Com-pany through Louis H. Heyman. The government attorneys closed their case shortly before 4 o'clock this afternoon after-noon and court was adjourned immediately. |
