Show if Peck Spilled but Unhurt; I Rognon Wins 4-Mile Race I At the Wandamcrc motordrome last night Ray Peck's front tire blew up and hurled hl'm to tho track while he was traveling at a forty-second clip. The accident happened In the tcn-mllc class A handicap. In this race five riders started. They were Ward. Peck, Brod-beck, Brod-beck, Bernstroni and McXcll. Tho two last named riders have Just recently been promoted to the A class and conscjucnt-lv conscjucnt-lv were given ono lap handicap. Tho race was well along and the three scratch men were riding like mad. with AVnrd and Brodbeck In the lead and Bernstrom and McNeil away behind. Pek was ncarlng tlie Judges' stand and had Just put on more speed hi an attempt at-tempt to catch the loaders, when a loud report was heard and Peck and his machine ma-chine rolled to the bottom of the track. Peck jumped up In an instant and shut) off Lis motor, while the rest uf Ihe riders ontlnued the nice. Peck was After the spill Ward and Brodbeck stayed close together and rode a beautiful beau-tiful race In a fruitless attempt to overhaul over-haul the limit men. Early in the race Bernstrom gained a substantial lead over McNeil and it looked as though McNeil would be out of the running entirely. On tho next to the bell lap. however, McNeil Mc-Neil shot out and passed Bernstroni, winning win-ning the race handily. Jn tho last fifty yards of the race Brodbeck put on extra .speed and beat Ward out for third placc-Whittler placc-Whittler failed to appear In this event because bis motor was out of repair. The five-mile class A promised to bo a good race between Whlttlcr. Ward and Peck In the warm-up. however, something some-thing went wrong with Whlttlcr's machine ma-chine and he was unable to ride up to his usual form on Brodbcck's motor. In the four-mile class U race, Rognon, one of the new rldcrx, showed his clas by winning first place from Otis Johnson and Billy McCalL Summary: Four-mile class B, professional Rognon Rog-non won.
