President Penrose yesterdav said that no meeting of tho presidency had taken place. In protecting their store the colonists killed a bandit. The remaining outlaws killed Mr. Harvey. "It would be ridiculous for any one here to wire Senator Smoot concerning tho affair with a suggestion that measures meas-ures be takon by the national government govern-ment In the matter. Suppose other nations na-tions sent messages to their officiate asking ask-ing that their governments interfere even' ev-en' time a foreigner Is killed by outlaws in this country. Mr. IvJns declared It as his opinion that tho killing of Mr. Harvey was due to the instlnot in Mexicans of that section who are half-breed Indians, to avenge what they consider a wrong on the first person they meet of the offending race. "It was necessary for the colonists to protect their store," he said, "and In doing do-ing so one of the bandits was killed. The others escaped, but later on, meeting meet-ing Harve- killed him, though personully Harvey had nothing to do with the affair at the storo." Mr. Ivlns has been contemplating a roturn to Mexico for about two weeks, but is yet tindecldod as to just when he may leave the city. He said yesterdav he could not say definitely when he would go. |
