Show BOCCACCIO PLEASES A LARGE AUDIENCE The Brlgham Young University Opera company, under the direction of Pro-fctior Pro-fctior A. C. Lund, rendered the comic opera, "Boccaccio," tn a pleasing manner at tho Salt T-ake theater last night. The theater was crowded and tho approval shown by tho audience could, bo nothing but gratifying to those participating In the production. Assisting , the members of tho company was an orchestra of fortv pieces, Professor Lund received many-rounds many-rounds of applause for his masterly work In the direction of tho orchestra and sing-era. sing-era. Ono of the most successful numbers of tho piece was tho opening chorus. "Hear the Bells." which Introduces nearly the entire cast, about seveniy-flvc people being be-ing assembled on the stage. The setting set-ting of the scene Is a street scone In Vcnlpe. John T. Hnnd did excellent work-in work-in the title role. He Is tho possessor of a splendid tenor voice and his Interpretation Interpre-tation of the part was throughout artistic and well received. Miss Flora Ridge a.i Flamctta has a dlfflcul part to nlay and does her work well Mose Whl taker. Thomas Martin and V. S. Uoldaway play the comedy parts and their efforts wore well rceflvori by the audience. Much of the evening's entertainment was furnished by the students of Brlgham Brlg-ham Young university, who attended the performance In a body and occupied seats In the balcony. Between nets tho students stu-dents gave college yclla and sang several songs. |
