Another surprise was the" lack of courage cour-age of Jockey Maxwell of Denver. "Kid" Davis of Salt Lake, almost as soon ns they clashed, hit hlni one blow and Maxwell Max-well went down. Maxwell laid on the floor quietly until the referee counted him out, when ho leaped to his feet nimbly nim-bly and ran from the ring amid cries of "quitter ' from the spectators. In order that (his bout might not be. a dnsco, "Babe"' Davis of Salt Bake boxed with "Kid" Davis, his brother, a three-round draw. This was a pretty exhibition, the two boys going at It as If they had soniv; family quarrel to settle. The main bout of the evening was between be-tween Jack Carpenter and Tommy Mccarty Mc-carty of Butte. Neither man was In very good condition, but they put up a good bout for ten rounds, when Iho decision de-cision wns awarded to Carpenter. Anorjter bout, was between Pete Jensen, tho "Battling J)aiu" of Colorado, and Sailor Martin. Neither man showed any great ability. The three-round bout was declared a draw.
