Clinton, deposed custodian of the county side of the city and county building. Clinton has been arrested nnd released upon his own recognizance, re-cognizance, but Anderson has so far eluded tho efforts of the sheriff's olTico to locate him. Wednesday, thinking that Anderson might be In hiding In the infirmary buildings. Deputy Sheriff Steele and two other deputies went to tho infirmary nnd searched every nook and corner where a man might bo concealed, but they were not rewardod by the discovery of the little, roly-poly ex-superlnlendcnt. It was reported Wednesday that Anderson Ander-son was seen fn Ogdcn last Sunday, walking walk-ing the streets ns though dazed, and wringing his hands. Mrs. Anderson says, howover, that sho has no idea where Anderson 5i. Mrs. Anderson came through with her resignation as matron of the infirmary Wednesday, and the resignation res-ignation was promptly accepted by the board. James Sabine remains In charge of the institution, whllo the commissioners commission-ers are wrangling over the matter of n successor. Sheriff on Trail. Sheriff Jorieph C. Sharp said Wednesday Wednes-day that he had been unablo to locate Anderson, but that he expected to locate him within a short time. Sheriff Sharp also added rather vehemently that. If Anderson was between the Atlantic and Pacific ocoans, he would soon have him located. Unless Anderson wns located within a very short time, tho sheriff added, he would have pictures and descriptions de-scriptions of the fleeing man printed and send them broadcast throughout the country. It is altogether likely that the commissioners com-missioners will have a merrv time deciding decid-ing upon the men to fill the two positions. posi-tions. There are a number of applicants for each of the positions, and Carl Poul-ton. Poul-ton. whom nohody appears to know. Is an applicant for both jobs. New applicants appli-cants for tho position of superintendent, Wednesday, were William Weaver. Joseph Jo-seph Simmons. Captain F. M. Bishop and Arthur Cummins. Additional applicants for tho position of custodian are A. B. Bcaman and William Wil-liam Boys. Bridwell in Lead, Ccorgo M. Bridwell. former superintendent superin-tendent of buildings for the board of education, is said to havo the best backing back-ing for the position of superintendent of the infirmary, but tho applicants for the position of custodian aio about eijual as to recommendations and support. Commissioner Murdoch has given It I out cold that he Is against nepotism, j and his attitude has prevented a solec- I lion for cither place thus far. Mnckay and Burton, to the contrary, i say that Micro are so many names to be considered that they havo not been able to glvo them proper attention. It Is believed, however, that the appointment ap-pointment will be made today or tomorrow, tomor-row, as the appointment, especially so far as the Infirmary is concerned, is urgent. urg-ent. Another piece of alleged crookedness on tho part of Anderson camo to light Wednesday. Somo weeks ago Anderson presented a bill of 522 50. duo to Fred Peterson for repairing boilers at the Infirmary. In-firmary. Anderson represented that Peterson Pe-terson was compelled to leave the country coun-try In a hurry and had assigned tho claim to him.
