While being interviewed Saturday, Champion MacKcan suggested that there should bo a checker association organized under tho auspices of tho Y. M. C. A. of this city, for the purpose of devclopinc ' good, stroug team to represent the city and stafc in future tournaments which naturally develop from the. germ of interest which is being be-ing shown of late. When General Secretary Cox of tbu Y. M. 0. A. was informed of the suggestion sug-gestion of Mr. MacKenn ho heartily indorsed in-dorsed the idea of ' organizing an association as-sociation and suggested to the commit lee to call a special rucoling of all those interested in the proposed tournament tourna-ment to elect, officers and adopt bylaws by-laws and rule3 to eovorn same.
