I I TRACT WILL BE IMPROVED AFTER MODERN-DAY PLANS Requests for Water Mains in Newly-Acquired Districts Are Indorsed. Another good-sized tract of land will bo annexed to tlic city. If the report of the municipal laws committee, as agreed upon Thuraduy night, Is adopted by the city council. Tho committee considered the petition of A. J. Weber and other property owners for the annexation to to tho cJly of the tract between Fifteenth Fif-teenth and Seventeenth East streets and Tenth and Eleventh. South streets, and decided to recommend the granting of IEtructed to draw tip the necessary annexation an-nexation ordinance and the matter will he finally passed upon by the city council coun-cil next Monday night. It Is understood under-stood that this Is satisfactory to the petitioners, peti-tioners, so there Is no doubt I hut the committee report will be adopted and the city will make another stride toward the southeast. Wator Main Petition Granted. Three petitions for water mains In the territory recently annexed to the city were granted by the waterworks committee. com-mittee. One is for a six-Inch main on Tenth East street, from Ninth South to Herbert avenue. Another Is for the same sizo. main, beginning at Thirteenth East and Twelfth South streets and running along Thirteenth East to Stratford n venue ve-nue in Highland Park and west on Stratford Strat-ford avenue to Highland Park drive, and also east on Stratford avenue for a distance dis-tance of 500 feet from Thirteenth East. The Third was for a six-Inch main on Thirteenth East street from Kensington avenue to Twelfth South street. All of those are in the new Sugar House district, dis-trict, which Is now a part of Salt J-akc Petitions Are Filed. The engineering and sewage committee commit-tee decided to illc the petition of George Itomnoy and other property owners asking ask-ing for the grading, curbing and gut-WIn gut-WIn of Third avenue from Canvon road to the military reservation. The municipal laws committee will recommend rec-ommend the tiling of all the petitions In favor of and the protests against the granting of the Saltair franchise, as tho matter has been considered and reported upon by the special franchise committee and tho franchlso will soon be before the council for final action. |
