A resolution resolu-tion declaring In substance that a lobby exists in behalf of the ship subsidy bill, and asking the appointment of a committee com-mittee to Investigate the matter, was adopted by the house committee on the judiciary today. The resolution, Introduced by Representative Repre-sentative Steencrson of Minnesota, declares de-clares certain publications, which are named, have mnde allegations that congress con-gress hns boon debauched by foreign steamship interests which seek to prevent tho passage of a bill to encourage the American merchant marine. Former Governor Horrlck of Ohio; John Hays Hammond, president of tho National League of Republican clubs, and R, P. Schwcrln, vice president of the Pacific Mall Steamship company, -arc named In the resolution as membors of the Merchant Mer-chant Marine league, organized to urge the passage of tho ship subsidy bill. |
