Show CHILDREN HOLD MUSICAL FESTIVAL Nearly Four Thousand Assemble Assem-ble in Tabernacle to Honor Joseph F. Smith. More than 3500 children of the Sunday schools of the Salt Lake stake, and they only represent a part of the four stakes Of Zion, hold their annual musical festival festi-val In tho tabernacle Sunday. Tho services serv-ices were held In honor of President Joseph Jo-seph F. Smith, and the picture of the prophet was prominently displayed high up on the front of the organ with electric lights illuminating it. A long programme, which was under the guidance of NephI 1j. Morris, president presi-dent of the stake, was carried out and remarks were mado by Joseph F. Smith Dr. J. E Talmagc and some of the Incidents In-cidents In the life of the present head of the church were recited bv NephI L Morris. Edward P. Kimball, assistant organist, gave a number of selections on the big Instrument and a greeting to the children chil-dren was extended by M. F. Parry Jr superintendent of tho stake Sunday schools Three numbers were rendered by the combined schools. Miss Irtua Browning sang "Babylon." giving a splendid rendition -of the beautiful composition. com-position. Concert recitations were given by the Mnoteenth ward. Twenty-third ward, Flftconth ward. Tweuty-Hghth ward. Center and Twenty-ninth ward. A duet was rendered by momhers of the I'ourteenth ward Sundnv school. The twenty-second ward choir sang "Dour to the Heart or tho Shepherd." and "Utah We I.ove Thee." was tho number rendered ren-dered by the Seventeenth ward choir Mrs. IJzzle Thomas Edwards gave a beaut ful rendition of "With Verdure Clad, by Utiydn. and a ladles' chorus under tho direction or Mrs. IJdwards' U"' Pretl-y composition by Slovens' "We Ever Pray for Thee." Little Miss Wilson made a presentation presenta-tion to Prcsldonr Smith of twelvo American Amer-ican beauty roses. |
