Thoy were wanted as witnesses In support of the charges of bribery and corruption In the Lorlmer election. Attorney Alfred Austrian told the committee thnt besides tbeso three, legislators, all under Indictment Indict-ment on charges growing out of the alleged al-leged occurrences In tho legislature he expected to. have subpoenaed Representatives Represen-tatives Jacob Groves nnd George W. English Eng-lish and to recall Representatives White and Bcckcmeyor. Mrs. Charles E. Luke, widow of Representative Repre-sentative Luke, Is nlso wanted as a witness. wit-ness. The committoo today refused to permit a witness to testify to alleged statoments of Representative L,uko as to his vote for Senator Lorlmer on the ground that It was hearsay.
