Show A SHOCKING CALAMITY. A great cahimitj has befallen the Los" Angeles Times. Its mechanical department de-partment was destroyed by an explosion of some sort, and a number of employes were killed and many more injured. It is a great disaster; a shocking calamity and loss. The Tribune extends its niost earnest sympathy to its Los Angeles contemporary, and hopes that no long time will olanse before the Times gets upon its old footing. The Los Au-gclus Au-gclus Times is one of the groat institutions, institu-tions, of the western coast; nnything happening to it is a matter of public concern. With respect' to the cause of the calamity, ca-lamity, various claims arc made. The Tribune wishes to' say no more than that if any persons are implicated in cansini: this disaster, no punishment is too great to inflict upon them; but for the credit of humanity we' trust that tho investigation will show that tho rumors rife in this respect will bo completely com-pletely dissipated. |
