Secretary Needier of the club here today to-day said: "Southern Idaho has but twenty-five creameries now. and when you look about and soe our dairying possibilities, and then think of one county In Wisconsin sustaining over 400 creameries, you can begin to reason as to the development In store for. this Industry In southern Idaho." This community Is awake to tho future fu-ture of the dairy business. For -severnl years past it hns been a custom of an association of Caldwell business men to go over Into the Willamette vallov and ship In soveral carloads of Jersey and Holsteln cows and soil them out at public pub-lic auction to the farmers of this vicinity vicin-ity giving them time on these payments. Tho haymaking season Is at hand about Caldwell and the crop Is very superior In quality and tho yield extraordinarily heavy. Thero Is a demand hero ior haymakers. hay-makers. A gentleman told me here to day that ho could readily place twenty haymakers In the fields about Caldwell at salaries ranging from 2 to ?2.50 per day. The first crop of strawberries Is gathered gath-ered and cherry picking Is now tho principal prin-cipal engagement of tho horticulturists. The fruit crop Is bumper. Thore are not enough cherries grown here to supply tho local demand. This Is not the case with 8trawbrrles, as they produce quantities of theso berries here in excess of the requirements for homo consumption. Tho Caldwell Forwarding company has its spacloua warehouse ontlrely filled with wool. In addition to this they havo already shipped to Boston, for storage fourteen cars of wool. Tho business streets of Caldwoll aro (Jfli all torn up and undergoing a firm dress- iH Ing of blthulltlc pavement. 111 Last Tuesday this county defeated a Wmm bond Issue for tho construction of nor frlmm bridges.
