Show BIG CATTLE SHIPMENT LARGEST EVER FROM ELY Special to The Tribune. ELY. Nov., Juno 18. For the past few-days few-days Ely has been full of slockmon from all parts of White Pine county, who are here to deliver cattle to M..1C Parsons of Salt Lake. Tho caltlo were contracted contract-ed for during the past two months by buyers in the employ of tho Salt Lake man, and the date of delivery saw something some-thing over 2000 head of stock gathered at Comln's lake, near Ely. where tho cattle were counted and payment made, the amount of cash changing hands being estimated at $50,000. The catlle were shipped to Denver from Ely yesterday. Sixty-live stock cars, divided into threo trains, were required re-quired to accommodate the shipment. None of the stock was retained by the Parsons representatives, all being turned over to Denver buyers, C. W. Johnson taking' 500 head: G. Wilkinson securing 400 cows and calves, whllo the balance, 1100 head of yearlings and two-year-olds, were purchased by Dugan Bros. A bunch ot 280 steers, three and four-year-olds, was taken by tho Ely Packing Pack-ing company for tho local market. This Is the largest sitipmcnt of livestock live-stock ever made from Ely. In former years the stockmen drove their herds to Modena, Utah, on the Sail Lako Route, but a special rate on livestock made by tho Nevada Northern railway, has caused Ely to become the shipping point, and In future the annual shipments will bo made from hero, to the great satisfaction satis-faction of Ely merchants. |
