Tho board of trustees trus-tees of tho Agricultural college wound up its busiuess today at the second meeting of tho year. All were present, pres-ent, e.vcopl. Judge Whitccotlon of Provo. Tho general business for tho coining year was passed upon, plans for tho summer school were npprovod and Prof. D C. Jensen of the B. Y. C. was engaged en-gaged as instructor. It- was decided that, all revenues from the summer school shall go to make a fund for needy students. The preparatory term was increased from two lo thrco years and tho board established a winter course in forestry for forest rangers, as a regular part of tho college work. In addition to this. a. regular forestry course will be given preparatory to graduating forestry courses in eastern colleges. The meeting also made permanent I ho $5 amusement fee. Tho directors reorganised animal husbandry work, giving Prof. John T. Caiuo direct chnrgo of all livestock, excopt the dairy herd' and poultry. Tt was decided to sell all grado livestock and in the futuro to buy only thoroughbred animals. A committee was appointed to buy stock with the money appropriated by : the legislature with the understanding j that it buy dairy herds. Jt was voted i that tho extension department hold schools in twelve of the counties of the state next winter on tho condition that each county guarantee an attendance atten-dance of 100 men and 50 women, the former to pay $1 and the women 50 cents. Prof. W. H. Homer, formerly of tho B. Y. U., will be employed in this work as a special, instituted'lecturcr for tho winter on horticulture. Tho Dcseret Farmer was made tho official organ of the institute work. Plans by Architect Lewis Cannon for the remodeling of the woman's dormitory dormi-tory were accepted and the work will bo begun at once. |
