Show COUNTY convention the peopled delegates from the precincts assemble SAGE GETS RAPPED the men who will next week nomi nite ni te the next delegate to congress the peoples convention of utah county met at the court house in this city this mornin aej was called to order by W H king chairman of the county central committee on motion of mr booth W H brown was elected temporary chairman J C graham was elected temporary secretary to avoid delay it was agreed that the secretary receive credentials and report the secretary then called the roll from the list he had prepared which showed there were twenty three ac credited delegates present on motion of mr milner the temporary organization was made permanent after the calline of the roll it was and carried that the delegates whose names had been read by the secretary be recognized as delegates in the the convention following is the list of delegates from provo J B milner J E booth D D houtz W II 11 brown and W H king davson H and samuel L page alpine H W brown pleasant ganve J 0 bullock and J B dark lelii george webb fork wm creer nicholas smith and samuel brockbank isike view M P madsen ill jame straw james caffrey ami edwin lefi salem J E madsen and A engberg american fork ammon mercer JP J mercer and L 8 harrington provo bench T J patten the call of the chairman and secretary of the central committee waa then read mr creer moved that alio chairman appoint a chaplain carried tiie chair appointed J E booth as chaplain prayer waa then offered by the chaplain mr king moved that the convention proceed to elect eight delegates to the territorial convention pursuant to call adopted mr webb moved that the apportionment of the delegates be made as follows three from that portion of the county lying north of provo three from the portion of provo and two from provo the motion was adopted nominations were then made and the following elected edwin lee of Spring viLe win creer nf spanish fork samuel L pay of payson george webb of lehi JJ mercer of american fork JO bullock of pleasant grove and john B milner and wm H kins of when mr careers name was put in nomination mr booth arose and said that be thought this was the time and place to settle one question before he voted to sustain mr careers nomination he would ask assurance from that gentleman as to his intentions whether he would support the regular peoples nominee fur delegate to congress or a sage brush nominee as he had done on a prior occasion he had no personal feelings in the matter but he would like to know if friend creer had yet repented mr king wished to know what party had sent mr creer to this convention i A delegate from spanish fork the peoples party mr king then I 1 call for the question I 1 mr straw thought mr booths ques afon a proper one the people of spanish fork may have pent mr creer here as a delegate but it is for this convention to send to the terri orial convention we have to decide who is suitable to go there mr creer said he had been sent here by the peoples party and his record was before the convention mr booth said this was no answer to his question he wished to know whether the gentleman proposed to serve as a or a sage brush demo cratic delegate mr creer again arose and referred to his election a year ago to the legislative assembly he was elected by a larger majority than mr booth had been still if it would be any gratification to tha gentleman he would say thai he meant to serve the people who had sent him to this convention mr milner thought the question had been sprung too late the delegates had all been accepted and the proper place to spring the issue would have been in committee on credentials mr caffrey thought the question should have been sprung at the primary and not at this convention mr careers election however was made unanimous on motion of mr king three alternates were elected as follows samuel brockbank of spanish fork S W brown of alpine and J E booth of provo alie convention then oa motion of mr booth adjourned |
