house was effected mainly by alie results of the election in west virginia and minnesota where the republicans public ans gain three congressmen eich and connecticut massachusetts missouri and michigan where they gain two each they also sain one in arkansas and one in tennessee tho most surprising of all these gains was that of west virginia which since 1872 haa been counted among tho certain democratic states but more surprising even than this is the result in delaware where for the first time in many years the republicans have secured a majori ty in the state on joint ballot
