Show JOSEPH E.'S LITTLE SNEERS. As before observed by Tho Tribune, President Joseph F. Smith seldom talks to tho people nowadays. But we must admit that whonover ho does talk he certainly says something. In his most recent and most notable sermon, which was preached at Logan on Sunday. November No-vember 21, 1909, he uttered tho following: follow-ing: There Is no necessity for us having to atop In the nildst of our labors or In the midst of our work and crossing ourselves our-selves In the form of the cross or dipping our fingers In holy water, so to speak, or dropping upon our knees In tho fields or In tho shop or anywhere clso to form n prayer that wc may be seen to bo praying, Joseph F. is a business man. In his estimation it is tho main thing to get money honestly if ho may; but to get it. Every minuto devoted to prayer by any saint is, according to Joseph R, a business minute lost. Why stop to pray or to croas one's self whon there is opportunity to utilize tho time in making monoy, upon which ono may pay tithing? Joseph F, is not a good farmer except as ho farms tho farmers. Ho is merely establishing tho houso of Smith, and as a natural result-it would bo disastrous, to his project if he permitted per-mitted tho contributors to his purso to becomo so idlo as to pray. And as to "holy water" the devil ncvor hatid it so much. But whr that sneer at "crossing ourselves" and "dipping our fingers in holy water!" Is Joseph getting ready to tell that shocking Tahiti story again, to tho effect that a Catholic priest tried to get the natives to kill and cat a Afornion missionary? |
