Show ACCIDENTS two occur in prove canyon and due in rock canyon byron doolin son of john of aliis city met with an accident on sunday last v aich resulted in the loss of his leit hand he and a number of other boys went up rock canyon in search of berries they came across an old saw mill entered and proceeded to start the machinery one of the boys set the water on and bryan picking up a piece of lumber attempted to saw it in two while doing so his foot slipped and befell across the saw his hand resting in front of the saw which severed the hand almost entirely from the wrist the hand being held only by the skin the party came at once into town to dr simmons who sent for dr pike and it was found necessary to remove the hand the boy is doing as well as could be expected I 1 two accidents occurred also a couple of days previous to the ono above reported at a tie camp at the head of provo river abbit sixty miles from here A twelve year old boy was with his father robert jennings of alio was engaged there in cutting ties while mr Jennings was sliding the logs down the side of the mountain the boy unknown to his father got m the way of the rolling logs one of which struck the little fellow on the leg breaking the small bone the father heard the boys cries came down the mountain and at once got ont his team for the purpose of bringing the boy to provo they traveled the sixty miles getting here the following morning dr sim j mons apt the boys leg the other accident oc curing at that place was in the case of james york jr a young man residing in provo and engaged alao in tie cutting while splitting a log the axe glanced and struck his right foot almost severing the large toe he came to town at once traveling all night and gothere on the morning of the dr simmons dressed the foot and has some hopes that the toe will not necessarily have to be amputated |
