Show Provo News Notes. Special to The Tribune. PROVO. April 5. Tho local members of tho W. C. T. U- will meet Wednesday afternoon at :: o'clock at the homo of Miss Josephlno Kellogg. Ernest Whitby, who Is charged with criminal ussault on a sixteen-year-old girl, and who heretofore pleaded guilty to attempt to havo criminal knowledge, appeared ap-peared before Judgo Booth today and was sentenced to pay a fine of 5100 and bo Imprisoned in the county Jail for a period of three months. Whitby would make no statement when asked by tho court If he had anything to say why tho Judgment of the court should not be Imposed. It Is understood that young Whitby was drunk when he mado tho assault. Tho motion to quash summons In the case of Pleasant Grovo Mercantile company com-pany vs. J. J. Freeman was argued today to-day before Judgo Booth and taken under advisement. James A. Doudell has appealed to the district court from a Judgment for $30 rendered against him in Justice Johnson's court at Sprlngvllle, and In favor of Margaret Mar-garet A. Davis. Dr. Itobl'son wa.s passing along Fifth North street In ills automobile when the rock was thrown. A deep gash was cut In the doctor's fuce which required two stitches lo close It up.
