II. Ritchie, a clerk in a real estate office, was put on trial charged with attempts at extortion. Ritchie's attorney at-torney announced that the defense would contend that Ritchie wa insane when ho wrote tho letters. "Remember that by doing as I have told von, vou will save 'two lives from hell.''' Ritchie wrote at the end of some of his loiters to Graves. Ritchie, who came from Terro Haute. Lid., was discovered to be tho author of tho letters through defects in the typewriters ho used. Today his mother moth-er testified that while he was a boy his head was injured. |
