B. farter, assistant traffic manager of the New York Central fast frnight service, will be in Salt Lake Sunday for a fow-hours. He will leave on To. 2 on tho Denver & Rio Grande Sunday. J Tho Oregon Short Lino has authorized tho filling in of Hie gaps in its block system on tho Tdaho division. Sixty two miles remain to be filled between Nampa and Reverse, and 13(i miles between be-tween Bliss and Pocatcllo. With these gaps filled in, the block system will be complete- between Salt Lake and Portland, Port-land, Ore. The Now York. Ontario & Western is in tho market for '1000 tons of rails for 1010 delivery. The Grand Trunk is in the market for (500 tons of rails for 1910 delivery. The New York, Ontario & Western is snid to have an inquiry out for 4000 tons of standard section steel rails. The .Toplin, Neosho & Springfield "Railway "Rail-way compan has an inquiry out for 10,000 tons of T-rails. The Ilarriman Lines have ordered 10,000 tons of rails from the Illinois Steel company and 20,000 Ions from the Tennessee Coal, lion and Raiilroad com-pa com-pa ny. The Southern railway, it is reported, is planning to build a passenger station jit Cleveland, Ten a. Tho Lo.uisvillo it Nashville, it is said, will build a depot at Louisville, Tcun. Officials of the Pennsylvania Railroad company have announced that tho "cn-eral "cn-eral contract for the Grcensburg (Pa.) nnpro ements has been awarded to the Millard Construction company of Philadelphia, Phila-delphia, Pa., and that work is to be started immediately. Plans for this work, which will cost upwards of 1,000,000, were announced several weeks ago. The Great Northern, which was stated in our issue of September 4 to have ordered a number of passenger cars from the Barney & Smith Car company, has divided this order up as follows: Thirty coaches, thirty baggage cars, twelve sleepers, six tourist sleepers and five dining ears. In addition to this ordov tho road has ordered ten combination combina-tion baggage and mail cars from the American Car and Foundry company. Tho Vieksburg, Shrcvoport & Pacific railroad, it is reported, will erect a passenger and freight depot at Bossier, La. This road is a part of the Queen & Crescent Route. The Louisville.' & Nashville has purchased pur-chased some additional land near Lee-wood, Lee-wood, cast of Memphis, Tchn.; on which it is reported the road plans to construct freight yards. Mr. .rP. Landis, purchasing agent of f.ho Philadelphia & Reading, denips that that road is in the market for a . large number of cars as has been generally reported. |
