This is the heaviest enrollment of students at this time of year (hat has been recorded during the last three years, and Is within thirty-six of the heaviest enrollment ever known at the university. As students are coming In for registration every day. it will be only a few days till all previous records uro outclassed. Ralph W. Pope, secrotary of the American Ameri-can Institute of Electrical Engineers, and Charles E. Scott, chief engineer of the Westlnghousu Electrical Manufacturing company, were visitors at the university Monday afternoon. The first issuo of the Chronicle for this year will be published at the university today. Owing lo the new Incidental feo of Sii. placed for the benefit of student activities, every student has his year's subscription to the paper paid for. and hence no Chronicle soliciting will be necessary during the present year. The names of six. students were considered con-sidered in the regular faculty meet fug. held Monday, as candidates for the Masters' Mas-ters' degree. As all of the candidates eonio from the engineering department, it shows that many students who have taken the Bachelor's decree feel that lite university has ample facilities for graduate grad-uate work In engineering. The "Order of tho Gleam" holds a special meeting today to arrange plmis and for work to bo pursued during the year. Considerable Interest is being manifested mani-fested in the mattor of enforcing the campus cam-pus rules. Class meetings ;u-e being held in the several classes today for the purpose pur-pose of considering the old rules, of modifying ami making such changes as shall be deemed necessary for their strict enforcement. While some of ihe minor details may be modified, the feeling is finite general that no freshman shall be permitted lo wear a derby on the campus. |
