Show CITY COUNCIL the municipal kernsr in the hands of the new members the members of the retiring city council were all present monday evening at 6 p m to close up their business lloil was called and the minutes read and approved alderman J E booth handed in his police justice report for the term ending february showing fines collected amounting to adopted alderman WH brown gave in his report as justice for the same period showing fines collected amounting to adopted the committee on finance reported that the petition of the factory store for rebate license be granted adopted sir booth moved to adjourn before the motion was put mayor duzenbery alluded to the good work that bad been performed by the retiring Coun cilmore especially in the improved condition of the streets regretted that no decisive action had been taken in relation to the fire limit question the question to adjourn was put and carried at 7 p m the members elect of the new council took their seats according to custom the roll was called and each member answered to his name judge W N dusenberry appeared and stated that the mayor and aldermen had filed their bonds andrad duly qualified ana then arose and with uplifted hand subscribed to the oath of office read by judge trayer was then offered and cil duly declared as qualified for bust nesa the mayor outlined the customary proceed ure of busi nessi and made several important suggestions for the benefit of the new members the petitions for remittance of water taxes were then heard as follows mrs Lydia Toung in behalf of the estate of jacob young L 0 glazier estate per mrs L 0 glazier lonis sr francis and mrs joseph clark and francis chark L S glazier and booth brown the petitions of all these parties were heard by the council and upon motion of mr farrer the further consideration of them was deferred till the next meeting of the council A list of recommendations for remittances of water tax submitted by va bermaster ter master gee was then read A D holdaway moved further consideration of the list till next session carried the resignation of E L jones city recorder was read A D holdaway moved the acceptance of the resignation to take effect on march carried mr farrer moved that when the council adjourns that it be until monday erenius next at 7 the following special committee on irrigation pending the appointment of the standing committee appointed by the the chair farrer daniels han sen holdaway and brown council adjourned |
