(Sunday,) A severe se-vere earthquake occurred in central Japan Ja-pan yesterday (Saturday) afternoon at .'l..')0 o'clock. Tho shock was particularly particu-larly hard around Kioto, Osakn, Lako Biwa and Nagoya. All railroad communication com-munication With those, districts has boon interrupted. Many houses collapsed col-lapsed and it is feared that, many people peo-ple were killed or injured. Nagoya. with a population of more than d(),000, anil one of the principal cities in Japan, located .100 miles west of Tokio, was badly damaged. Details are meager because of the. interruption of telegraphic communication with the cities most all'ected. Twenty-one deaths and .seventy people injured have thus far been reported. One-fourth of the Sh.iga prefecture sustained considerable damage.
