courthouse on monday there wore present selectmen J S page A D and lsuis P lund sheriff thomas fowler and county blerk V L halliday the probate judge being absent sel ectman pace was elected chairman on motion of selectman holdaway alie petition of george harer camp and C A dark was asking for a license to make abstract s of title of real estate in utah county under section article 6 volume 1 of the compiled laws of utah 1888 after some consideration on motion of sel holdaway the amount of bond required of abstract companies is hereby established at further coccid elation of the petition was postponed till june county surveyor thomas davis re darted plat and field notes of the loca t conof sundry changes of county road in salem payson benjamin spanish fork and lehi which had previously bien ordered surveyed they were examined by the court and said roads were duly declared to be county roads wm H brown assessor and collector of utah county submitted the assessment roll for the year 1889 showing the taxable property of the county to bo the assessor also submitted a list of exceptions made on account of tree culture report accepted it was ordered that tuesday the day of july 1889 at 10 a m be the time forbearing complaints in regard to the assessed valuation of the property for 1889 and to hear petitions for remittances on motion of selectman tha compensation of the assessor for chri year 1889 is established at 1000 an 1 on motion of selectman lund the salary of the collector was fixed at said amount to cover all expenses incident to said office and the collection of tha taxes for 1889 on motion of selectman lund it ras ordered that the sum cf four aws on the dollar be established as the rate of county tax for the bear 1889 on motica of selectman holdaway i ho assessor and collector was authorized to make improvements in his office by way of widening the counter and putting in drawers and wire screens thereon at this juncture court adjourned until tuesday morning when page again occupied the chair in the absence of judge dusenbery Dusen beny the petition of E nash and thirty six others was presented asking the appointment oje Q M beck ad road supervisor lor alpine precinct and referred to selectman lund for attention the report of fish and game comaris lioner john A brown for the quarter ending june was presented it shows eight arrests made during that time resulting in six convictions and a nd two discharges sentence was suspended in one case and fines assessed amounting to 40 in the other cases the report was accepted and placed on file the quarterly report of the quarantine physician was presented read and placed on file A case of smallpox small pox at benjamin in the family of A J stewart was reported by mrs amanda J ramsey nurse with items of costs for caring for patients infecting disinfecting dis premises clothing destroyed etc the matter was referred to the county attorney with instructions to ascertain if the county is liable for ss id costs the quarterly report of W H brown justice of the peace for provo precinct showed criminal cases heard by him with items of costs and showing fines assessed to bo 35 report accepted and the amount of as said costs the quarterly report of J S boyer justice of the peace for springville Spring ville precinct was presented and accepted and the sum of allowed as costs in cases heard by him the quarterly report of II 11 W barnett justice of the peace 0 payson precinct was presented and allowed and the sum of 2134 allowed as costs in sundry cases the report and claim of john E hills U S commissioner acting as justice of the Peace was presented and referred to the county attorney the amount of 1415 was allowed H W barnett as costs in the elmer lewis inquest J W robertson justice of the peace for spanish fork reported the inquest over the remains of A iteck accepted and filed john 11 coroner of county reported inquests in quests bield by him over the remains of elizabeth jones and harriet bailey patients of alie territorial lusane asylum accepted and filed the sum of 1235 was appropriated out of the live stock fund to newel knight for animal sold by the fouad keeper of provo bench precinct the following claims were presented audited and allowed john A brown services as game commissioner to be paid live stock fund smoot richards co medicines for prisoners 1610 daniel fowler work on courthouse grounds 33 S E thurman fees paid district clerk in dismissal of cases of the people vs arrowsmith and causey geo D barnard co for records provo manufacturing co washing blankets for jail provo East Coop sundries 49 25 UTAH ENQUIRE printing and advertising ver jas E hall services rendered in examination of samuel wheeler hall donald W williamson appointed in bis stead C L olsen justice of the peace for salem having remove from that precinct the court appointed richard J nuttall to that position the court at this juncture adjourned till wednesday morning at which time judge dusenburry Dusenb crry was present and as admed the chair the sheriff called the attention of the court to he fact that henry arrowsmith convicted for unlawful fishing had served out a term of 77 days of his judgment of 99 days in the county jail and recommended that the remaining 22 days of the imprisonment bo remitted and that he bo released the court upon due consideration and on motion of selectman ordered a remittance mit tance of the 22 days and eliat fihs ihs prisoner be discharged the petition of he utah county abstract Compa uv per M M presented a bond in the sum of which was examined and approved by the court the license was then issued the quarterly reports of the receipts and expenditures of the public funds placed in abo charge of the selectmen were audited and accepted and sundry appropriations made to them on insane highway and contingent fund accounts the following quarterly salaries were appropriated SK Thurman V L
