The bicycle races at Saltair Wednesday Wednes-day night were hotly contested by the riders, nnd every event proved exciting, with fast lime made in each. A. J. Clarke won both professional events, riding without any team work. Ills win of- the three-mile lap race was popular, beating j out Mayer and McFarland by inches at the tape. Tho time was fast, the distance being covered In 53 1-5 seconds. L. Llnclgrecn won the mile handicap race, starting from the 145-yard mark. It is his first win of the season, having sta.rted in all the. amateur races. Lawrence, Law-rence, Meyer and I Jolllsler finished in a bunch In tho order named. The time was 1:50 1-5. Lawson Leaves for East. Iver Lawson left Wednesday afternoon for New York City, where ho Is matchod to meet Frank Kramer. Lawson will do some training In the East preliminary to the match and hopes to get Into shape before the scheduled race. Ho says that he will be riding faster than cvor the. coming winter, and expects to make a geperal clean-up. the same as he did last winter and before breaking his ankle at Vallsburg last spring.
