Show Jefferson Con. Ships Material Prom Mine Near Mouth of Little Cottonwood Canyon. NEW COMPRESSOR WILL BE WORKING THIS WEEK Development Work Being Done on Lower Levels to Prove an Ore-Bearing Fissure. Tho Jefferson Consolidated Gold and Copper Mining company, whoso prop-ort.y prop-ort.y is located about half a mile north of tho mouth of Littlo Cottonwood cauyon, cau-yon, is in l.ho market with a consignment consign-ment of forty-live tons of high grade ore. Tho ore is expected to carry values val-ues iu gold amounting lo at least. $200 a ton. Copper values in tho ore will probably amount to about 5 per cent. Tho silver in tho ore is oxpoctod to be high enough to pay sampling charges. All tho oro in this latest consignment has been taken from tho fifty-foot level, xv'hcro a vein varying in width from oight to ton or possibly twolvo inches has been encountered. Tho matorial in this vein is of such oxcollent character that its development is proving a success suc-cess financially for tho company. So successful, havo boon the efforts of tho management in the handling of tho initio and so encouraging has been tho outlook, that it was decided some time ago to install a compressor at tho mine, and to nso power in pushing tho work along. Tho machino -will have a capacity varying from GOO to 700 cubic foot a minute. Tho compressor is now in place and practically ready to be put in operation. Only a fow more connections aro noccssary. Tho compressor com-pressor will bo in working order beforo tho close of tho present week. While the work of installing tho compressor com-pressor has been going on, other work in the mine hns not been suspended. Instead, tho management has been doing do-ing considerable development work. Just, as soon as tho compressor goes into operation, op-eration, the force on the development work will bo increased' slightly. Bo cause of this- action .and the bettor equipment;, it is not expected that there will bo a long wait beforo soriio encouraging en-couraging reports aro hoard from the lower workings. At tho present tiino. the oro bearing fissure has been proven and is producing on tho fifty-foot level. On tho 100 and 200-foot lovcls and in tho drain tunnel, tun-nel, work will bo directed toward this fissure. Already encouraging indications indica-tions have been found on tho 100-foot level. The vein 'is expected to widen with depth. |
