Show SALT LAKE GREEKS WILL HAVE FLOAT IN PARADE Tho Greek community of Salt Lake City will take part in tho great parade of the United Commercial Travelers Thursday with a handsome float, symbolical sym-bolical of the beautiful traditions' of their country. The main feature of this will be a representation of tho ancient God of Wine, known as Dionysus or Bacchus, and celebrated all over the known world as tho leader of joy and good fellowship. In ancient Greece celebrations wore held annually in honor . of Bacchus, which were termed "Dionysia." Those celebrations were marked' by a great display' of splendor. The float used was exactly the same oue which will appear in the parado today from tho Grook community of Utah, and was accompanied accom-panied by many riders. Tt is for the above reason that a representation rep-resentation of Bacchus has been chosen to honor the commercial travelers of today, since he was surely the first commercial traveler, and his exertions have always been put forth to tho aid of the Knights of tho Grip. |
