| Show the iiii cumorah editor ot the elder jonathan S page superintendent of the payson sabbath school made arrangements with elders edward stevenson and A jfhn sen to deliver a lecture to the sunday school last sunday on the subject of the hill gemorah Gu morah and the waste places 0 zion the superintendent in had promised his school a treat on these topics so at an early hour there were full seven hundred bright little cherubs with their teachers and friends ready to gaze upon throe aars viz the hill cumorah liberty jail etc the paintings were feet and attracted the youths rather pleasingly the school children were entertained with the view of the angel moroni standing with the youthful prophet joseph smith near the top of the hill cumorah on the west side of the north point the history of josephs first vision near his fathers house two miles north and about two miles south of the village of palmyra which occurred in the year 1820 and tho subsequent visit of the angel mo roni in the house of the youthful prophets father and then on the hill cumorah as exhibited in the painting served to rivet upon the minds of the sunday school children much more permanently than words could possibly do the school children showed their appreciation by hearty thanks for there free lecture bishop tanner extended an invitation to the brethren to continue their lecture in the afternoon and evening which were largely attended and appreciated at the close of the meetings thosa who had ever personally known joseph smith the prophet were asked to rise to their feet when seventeen persons wore counted the brethren said that only three at spanish fork were able on a similar oc cassion of two lectures delivered there to rise to their feet out of full houses at springville Spring ville out of about 1000 people for the house was crowded so that standing room in the gallery was at a premium only awen ty five were present who ever saw joseph smith there wore others living in both of these place s who had both seen the prophet and heard his voice but such are getting scarce in our day and the few are growing grey and will soon pass away yet the prophets works continue to follow and prosper which will continue until he comes again in a resurrected state ath power over death aven as jesus who also was martyred marty red for establishing the selfsame self same gospel with revelations visions gifts end blessings Z |
