Show BT the lamentable death of dr em aa BAUda or nephi with regard to the death of miss dr emma B atkin of nephi brief mention of which was made in tuesdays issue of the we learn from a correspondent that she had been ailing for some time past and hai been accustomed to use morphine OD saturday night the dinst at 1030 the decease ds hired girl observed her mistress agaid taking the drug just before retiring to rest on rising next morning the girl found miss atkin unconscious and notified her brother mr george atkin to that effect dr miner was summoned and remained with her until 3 the same afternoon his services however were unavailing the morphine having done its work too effectually indeed to all appearances tho unfortunate lady was dead whon first discovered dr emma B atkin was the daugh er of george and S M atlan of thoele tooele and was bora in thoele tooele in 1859 she was educated at tha brigham young academy in provo and studied obstetrics under dr eo mania B of salt lake city afterwards she went to Phil adelphi aad there entered the lomeas medical college where ghe continued her studies in medicine ma dicine and surgery for a period of three years she commenced practice in nephi in the year 1886 and had been very successful in her services she was highly respected by all who knew her the body has been removed to thoele tooele for interment an inquest on the body of the deceased lady was held at her late residence in nephi precinct juab county utah on the dinst before mr vm alien coroner the jurors found that the said dr emma B atkin died from an overdose of morphine administered by her own hand while suffering great pain the furors wore henry adama john witbeck |
