Show THE REMOVAL ACT i bail ratifying agreement made by ahe senator bowens Jo wens bill submitted to the interior department to ratify and confirm the agreement made by the commission with tho southern utes provides for the exchange of their reservation for the following described reservation commencing on the north line of the san juan river where said river crosses the line between colorado and utah thence running north oa said line seventy figu miles thence running due west to the colorado river thence running southwesterly along the east bank of the colorado river to jean river where it empties into the colorado river thence running easterly along the north bank of the san juan nver to the place of beginning which shall be set apart for tho undisturbed use of ead southern utes and such other tribes bands and in divi duala as the utes may be willing with the consent of the united states to visit or permanently reside the united states reserve the right of granting rights of way across said reservations for railroads highways ditch companies or any other necessary purpose the government agrees to remove from said reservation all persons having no legal right to remain thereon but if there are persons who have obtained title or crami of title by virtue of entries made under an act to provide for the sale of desert lands in certain states and territories or tinder any other act of congress and have rights or titles legal and binding on the united states such person or persons or all rights titles and claims are excepted exempted and reserved the improvements on the southern die reservation will be appraiser and sold to the highest bidder under tha direction of the secretary of the interior the indians owning the same shall be paid the valuation price an agency is to be established on the reservation and the southern utes may hunt over unoccupied lands around the la sal mountains mount aias in utah all provisions of treaties heretofore made with the southern utes now in force not inconsistent with the provisions of this treaty are reaffirmed |
