Show THEIR WAILS OP DESPAIR. The desperation of the church politicians poli-ticians in this campaign, aud tho fear that possesses, them at tho prospect of losing control of this county, are evident evi-dent from the wild and woolh things thoy are printing, the puerile stories thoy are circulating, and tho fnlso and ridiculous charges thoy are making. Like tho other heathen, they rage, and imagine vain things. Thoy fill the columns col-umns of tho church papers with silly lies and childlike extravagances in tho way of bugaboo storicn. Tako this latest fairy tale of Sol Kimball's, for instance, which tho church orgnn thought worthy of a first-page first-page place and a scare head on Saturday Satur-day night, in which forty thieves arc represented as politicians who have do-sign do-sign and intent to oust tho Mormons from their homes, drivo them out of Utah, and take the Temple for a State capitol, and tho Tabernnclo for a dance hnll what sort of stuff "ib that to put beforo intelligent people as something to bo feared? If thcro a man or wo-mau wo-mau in Utah so ignorant of our laws, and of the tenure of land-holding, thnt he or bhe could imHgine anything of that sort lo be a possibility? Tho wholo mess of rubbish is too stupid for a moment mo-ment !h serious attention. But these frantic breaks show tho terror of tho church political bosBcs. Tho use of such insane yolls shows the state of ferocious lunacy that tho "Republicans" "Re-publicans" arc driven lo in their hopelessness hope-lessness of success at the ensuing election. elec-tion. Just such idiotic rot wns poured out upon this community in streams, from tho samo sourco, years ago, when the capture of the county by the Lib-orals Lib-orals was imminent. But it didn't scare anybody then, and it won't scare anybody ' now. The Liberals got control., con-trol., in tho county. And what happened? hap-pened? Was anybody hurt? On the contrary, was not everybody benefited? Was. not the public money properly expended, ex-pended, and was any one disturbed in his rights of person or property? Everything was on the square, all were fairly and justly treated, and tho magnificent mag-nificent joint city and county building is a monument to the integrity, tho ability, tho progrcfesivenoss, the public spirit, of that control. Wo do not imagine, that any intelligent intelli-gent voter will be in the least disturbed dis-turbed by the gong-beating and stinkpots stink-pots of the church harlequins. It is only the voters of no intelligence who can bo intimidated by such measures. And theso are not likely lo bo much stirred, for thoy have nothing to lose; and such of them as remember the benefits that came to all alike through the former displacement of tho church grafters and incompetents, will not feel much fear upon their being ousted again; quite otherwise, iu fact, for they know that honest men will gain by tho tran'sfer of control from corruption corrup-tion to cleanness. The despondency of the church bosses, as shown by their misdirected plunging and scarc-in-hasto outcries, is a source of the deepest satisfaction lo the Americans. They know that the church marplots would not becomo so "Tattled" if they did not feel thom-solves thom-solves at tho gulf of defeat. And it is u joy deep and strong to seo tho trembling trem-bling and the tumbling and the despairing despair-ing wails of tho church bosses in what the' cvidentb' consider their "last ditch." Cover them over gentry, and i let them repose in peace, hidden from tho sight' of the manhood they have disgraced, and tho womanhood they havc defiled. |
