Show MOUNTAINEERS TO SCALE CANADA'S HIGHEST PEAK Two trained mountaineers of Canadu, Dr. Coleman, tho geologist of Toronto unlversltv, and Mr- Kinney of Victoria. B. C, will attempt to reach the top of Mount Robson this summer. It Is a virgin vir-gin peak. Mr. Kinney went to tho mountain moun-tain last year, only to meet rain below and snow above In such quantities that lie could not make tho climb. Mount Robson Is one of the most Inaccessible In-accessible summits In North America, eays the New York Sun. It stands a llttlo west of tho divide betwn waters going lo tho Arctic ocean and others flowing to the Paclllc. So far as known It is the highest point In Canada. Its height was ascertained ascer-tained hy the Canadian Geological survey sur-vey only about ten years ago. It Is 13,-700 13,-700 above tho sea, and rises 10.750 foot above the neighboring valley, but somehow some-how lt never Impressed those who snw lt with its tremendous elevation, nearly two miles, above their standpoint. i It is the center of scenery of remarkable remark-able grandeur James McEvoy of the Canadian Geological survey, explored this region In 188S, and said that tho descriptions descrip-tions of Milton and Cheadle, written In I lSiin. had In no respect been overdrawn. This Is of Interest to all tourists In America, because this magnificent mountain moun-tain region, now very hard to reach and impossible for the ordinary traveler to traverse, will before long be open to all. Tho routo of the Grand Trunk Pacific, which Is now being extended westward from Edmonton, will be carried through tho Yellow Head Pass, and In the stretch where It will skirt tho northern bank of tho Upper Fraser tho trains will pass only a fow mlle3 south of tho great mountain. Mount Robson will be a hard proposition proposi-tion for tho average mountaineer, and Its ascent will doubtless be left to ex-perta. ex-perta. for It has a slcpo of GO degrees practically from base to summit.
