Over 1000 people attended tho horso races at tho fair grounds this afternoon, which began shortly after 1 o'clock and ia.slf.ii until late In tho afternoon. Tho result:! aro as follows: Three-mile class, trot! or pace, thrco In five heats, of ono mile each Ben .lord first. Mayflower second. King. Wasatch third. Roanoke fourth. Tho fastest time In this event was made by Mayilower. who won tho first heat In Ii:17i. Ben Jord, the winner, won second, third and fourth heats straight. The last heat was finished In 2:20. Free-for-all, trot or pace, one mile heat Francis J. llrst, Orea second, Daisy R. third. Nlmshay fourth. Francis J. won threo straight, tho best time being 2:15. Running race, three-quarters of a mile Salbyan first, Col. Dickey second, Western West-ern third. Tho time was 1.1S3. There were eleven entries In this race, but only threo got away from tho pole. Thin caused soma kicking from the owners of the animals which did not take part In tho race, but tho matter was adjusted to suit all. One-half mile running race Susie Gray first, Swagerlater second, Billy Bog Will third, Lofal fourth. Tho time was -19 seconds. |
