Show BEAT FATHER AND SISTER Brutal Young Man Will Serve Seventy-five Seventy-five Days in Jail. Ed Appell, a husky young man who lives with his parents at 52i South Fifth East street, was arrested Sunday by Officers Of-ficers Hilton and Gilbranson and bookod without charge. Tho arrest was made at the instance of tho young man's father, fath-er, who appeared In t,he police court Monday and preferred a charge of assault as-sault and battery against his son. The story told by the father was that young Appell had attacked him and his sister on Saturday, badly beating the former with his fists and stVlklng the latter with a chair, Inflicting painful injuries. In face of these facts, as presented by the prosocutlng attorney, tho defendant pleaded guilty to the charge. Asked If he had anything to say in extenuation of his brutality, ho airily replied that he "hadn't a word to say." Judge Dlehl gave him a good, stiff lecturo from tho bench and sentenced him to serve Beven-ty-flve days In the city prison. |
