Show FINE COPPER BODIES IN JJINTAH REGION Mining Man Gives Interesting News Regarding This Old Indian Reserve. E. II. Wilson, who has been In and nrouud tho Uintah Indian reservation during several years past, and who Is thoroughly familiar with tho conditions upon tho torrltory formerly hold for tho use of the Indian, is In tho city on busl-nuss busl-nuss connocted with his mining Interests Inter-ests In that region. Mr. Wilson brings with him ample proof that tho former Indian lands are full of mineral, and In his opinion the old reservation soon will be giving birth to coppor camps which will astonish tho uninformed. The quoBtion often has been asked regarding re-garding tho miucral deposits of tho Uintah region. Mr. Wilson states that tho deposits of tho hydrocarbons aro well known, but. that tho copper deposits aro not regarded as important bocause tho people know so little about them. Ten miles north of White Rock there have been somo remarkablo copper, iron and some silver Bhowlngs, tho mlnorallzud territory bidding fair to extend for at least llftccn miles further on. Tho territory Iu, of course, llttlo prospected pros-pected on account of tho fact that tho prospector was excluded up to last November. No-vember. At the present tlmo, however, thoro is n groat activity on all sides, and copper oro bodies of vast cxtont are being dlsclosod whose rod motal valuos will range botween 5 and 20 por cent. In tho southorn portion of the old reservation there aro somo fine rod metal showlng3. the values running very high In spots, but the genoral average will stand at about 15 per cent. Tho Iron deposits of tho reservation, states Mr. Wilson, arc of tho utmost Importance. Tho Colorado Fuel and Iron company has had its representatives in tho region ever since last Docembor, and thoy nre confining their researches to iron merely. This Iron oro is described as having all tho needed characteristics of steel making ore, and It promises to be as much in demand as tho coppor oro during tho coming season. Mr. Wilson is stopping at the Cullou, and will ho hero for several days. |
