It Is understood, was mailed to Patterson through tho Salt Lake postomcc, but the letter failed to reach I La destination. William J. .McLaughlin, residing at 1M West Sixth South street, Is not over-lmiulsitlve, but ho would really like to know what Postmaster Thomas did with a letter which should have reached him last November. In September, 1005, Mr McLaughlin took a civil service examination In this city. Ills rating was to be sent to him from San Francisco, and, after waiting for months, without hearing from tho commission, he wrote to the secretary, asking why his rating had not been sent. Under date of June 1 Mr. McLaughlin received a letter from Secretary Sny- der, at San Francisco, reading as follows: fol-lows: "You are informod that a notice of rating of your Internal revenue examination, ex-amination, taken at Salt Lako City, September 6, 1905, was mailed to you November 20, 1905." Although Mr. McLaughlin would be pleased to know what Postmaster Thomas did with the first letter, he is grateful that the "artful" little man permitted him to receive the second one. The first letter will probably turn up later, however. |
