Special to The Trihuno. SODA SPRINGS, Idaho, Aug. S. Jay Gordon, 1-i-ycar-old son of Mrs. Leah Gordon of this city, was accidentally acci-dentally shot and killed Saturday afternoon af-ternoon by Roy Horsoly, aged 17, while out hunting on Spring creek, two miles from this place. Both barrels of a shotgun in the hands of tho Ilorsely boy "wore accidentally discharged and young Gordon's head was almost completer; com-pleter; blown from the body. Death was instantaneous. The body was brought to town by Horsely and two other companions on the hunting trip. Young Horsely is almost crazed with grief over the accident and is unnble to coherently doscribo the circumstances circumstan-ces under which tho terrible affair happened. Tho Gordon family is ono of tho oldest nnd best known in the eastern pari of the county. Thero are no solicitors or tho commission com-mission housoji looking out for sheep this season, but tho speculators seem to have taken their place and to some extent nrc lifting a burden from tho shouldors of tho shoen owners. Marriott of tho Soda Springs club had tho misfortune to suffer a broken leg. Marriott had reached first baso ancl was Bloaling second. As ho placed his loft foot on tho bag it turned, a spiko in his shoo holding to tho bag in such a manner that his anklo was thrown out of place and when the weight of his body camo on it ono of the bones snapped off just above tho ankle and stuck out through the flesh. He wns given medical attention and brought home on the afternoon train, but it will bo a long time beforo ho will play ball again. |
