Show , BAD ROADS RETARD WORK Strawberry Valley Project Will Be Delayed Some Time. On account of bad weather and bad roads, the Initial work of tho Strawberry vulloy Irrigation project will be delayed some time beyond when It was expected that It would begin. ' II. S. Klelnschmldt, assistant engineer of the local branch of the reclamation service, who has been In the Strawberry valley all winter, returned Monday to Salt Lake. He has been stationed at the Juncture Junc-ture of two strcarrm, whero the dam Is to bo built, -for tho purpose of taking measurements of tho flow of the streams. On account of the severe cold the streams have been frozen over several limes, and a:; a result the How Is decidedly complex and difficult to determine. Mr. Klelnschmldt was accompanied by lut one person, a packer, in his mountain resort and found ft not a pleasant abode and very difficult to leave. The snow la unusually deep, and he states that It will be several weeks yt before a working forco and supplies can be taken in. He will be auccceded for the time being at tho site by H. W. Shcley, who will leave for tho camp Tuosday. W. G. Swendson. local hydrographcr, returned re-turned Monday from taking measurements measure-ments In the southern portion of the State. George L. Swendsen, chief of tho local reclamation service, on Tuesday received from Washington a map In colors- of the Strawberrv project, showing the contour of the land affected and the work to be done. Tho map Is a complete affair and Is the product of a great deal of accurate and expensive field work that has been done for the enterprise by tho Ulah force. |
