Show FORMER RESIDENT DIES ON COAST Dr. J. K. W. Bracken, 71, former for-mer Bingham physician and a co-founder co-founder of the Bingham Mercantile Mercan-tile company, died August 1 in Pasadena, Cal., after a long illness. Dr. Bracken was born in Mt. Pleasant, Ohio. He studied medicine medi-cine at Jefferson college, Philadelphia, Phila-delphia, and soon afterward went to Salt Lake City to begin practice. prac-tice. He was a physician in Bingham a number of years. With C. E. Adderley and J. C. Dugan, he organized or-ganized the Bingham Mercantile company in 1897. Mr. Dugan withdrew from the company a few years later, being given sole ownership of the Garfield Mercantile, Mer-cantile, which had been established establish-ed by the three partners. Dr. Bracken sold his interest in the Bingham Merc, to Mr. Adderley Ad-derley in 1929. He was a practicing physician in Springville and was D&RGW railroad surgeon there. Among his business interests were ranch and livestock holdings in Utah. After retiring from medicine he was associated with Senator W. A. Clark in construction of the Los Angeles and Salt Lake railroad. rail-road. Surviving are a brother, Walter R. Bracken of Las Vegas, Nev., and a sister, R. Edith Bracken of Pasadena. Funeral services were conducted conduct-ed Pasadena Saturday. |
