Children's Playhouses. The kindergarten children, who range from -1 to 0 ycara In ape, constructed a playhouse bv placing largo boxes from which tho ends liad been removed, one above tho other, till three slorlca wore constructed, and In each room, beginning begin-ning with tho parlor, tho Httlo peoplo constructed every artlclo of furniture known to a well-ordered household. Piano, conterUiblc, lounge, pictures, chalro. etc., In regular order, and all very well made. Tho kitchen has u ranee and cooking utcnalls. and the bedrooms are completely furnished, even to spreads on the beds. The modeling In clay by theao Uttlo people Is excellent, and one wondorn how they did It all. It Is a very remarkable exhibit. At tho further end of the auditorium is the exhibit of A and B clasaeg of the first grade. Miss Strceter. teacher, and tho water-color and chalk drawings In this collection aro among the best In tho school. Free-hand cutting Is a feature, and clav modeling Is very good. Some of the efforts merit special mention. Coal Industry Exhibit. Miss Cherrv's class B of tho third grude exhibits tho coal Industry In a most unlqUo manner. Here aro coal and all the by-products which come from It. Tho miners' tools complete and their uses aro there, to give emphasis to tho coal question. Somo scholars have loaned their tov horsed and wagons and without Intended sarcasm have heaped the latter lat-ter In a fashion to give a real coal dejil-or dejil-or a fit. They are full artd running o'er. Free-hand cutting Is nbo seen here In Its best form. Rockefeller Product. In ono of the lobbies Is the exhibit of B class of the sixth -grade, Miss Qulnn, teacher. This class took up petroleum and Its products, and liavo In evidence everything from tho crude oil to the finished, fin-ished, candle. It all shows how patiently the teacher wrought with her little charges and augurs well for the scholars as they shall advance to higher grades. In nil of thoso grade's' music Is a cardinal car-dinal study under Prof, Wetzel, and some scholars have, written original compositions composi-tions of much merit. Thero was abundant abund-ant evidence of faith and trust In all tho teachers by tho parents und friends of the school. |
